Celebrating the New Year of the Trees – Tu B’Shvat
January 20 @ 6:30 pm
As the days begin to lengthen, the trees begin to awaken and the sap starts to rise. TuB’Shvat is a Kabbalist holiday marking the hidden beginning of spring that celebrates the trees, connects us to the Earth, The Divine, and our human potential to begin anew, even in the depths of winter.
Join us for a Tu B’Shvat seder (ritual meal and ceremony) that explores the Kabbalah, eco-Jewish wisdom and honors our local trees. We will savor the fruit of our local trees (oaks, madrone and bay) as well as those native to the land of Israel.
Our Seder will weave mythology, meditation, ecology, wild foods, and Jewish teachings led by deep ecologist Jolie Elan. Let us celebrate the rising of life within us, which, in time, will bear fruit of mind, heart, and spirit.
The Seder will be light fare, please eat before-hand.
This event is not oriented for children.
Event will take place at Temple Emek Shalom, 1800 East Main Street in Ashland.
Please call to Temple Emek Shalom at 541-488-2909 to register
Sliding scale $10-72
