Join a super group of plant lovers for a fantastic day as we steep ourselves in the botanical riches of Point Reyes. We will take time to fully see the plants around us and become skilled at recognizing the patterns that distinguish major plant families in California. We will practice the art of botanical keying and also discuss the recent major changes in botanical classification. In addition to our primary focus, students will be introduced to the ethnobotany of the area and some top notch wild foods and medicines of Point Reyes National Seashore.
This class is for advanced beginners and intermediate botanists. Students should know the basics of flower anatomy and how plants are generally classified. Feel free to contact the instructor if you have questions about the level of knowledge needed for the class.
Also open to youth (age 12-17) with parent attendance.
