Plant Journeying – Accessing Plant Spirit Medicine Experientially

This experiential class explores how to connect directly with a plant and its inherent wisdom in a deep and ancient way through meditation. Each class will focus on one fabulous plant, its ethnobotany, mythology and plant spirit medicine. Classes begin with an ethnobotanical introduction and move into a plant spirit journey. After the journey, there will be an opportunity to share our insights and knowledge. This is a direct way to tap into Earth wisdom for the benefit of ourselves, our community and All Our Relations. Yarrow Plant Journey: Achilles the Warrior. April 30th 7-9 PM
Rich in medicine, steeped in mythology, Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is named after the Greek demi-god and hero of the Trojan War, Achilles. We will experientially explore the medicine, ethnobotany and myths and of this world renown warrior plant. Mugwort Plant Journey: From the Medical to the Metaphysical. May 7th 7-9 PM
Named after the Goddess of the wild and imagination, Artemisia species are used as sacred medicine worldwide. From digestive bitter to dreamer’s oracle, Mugwort (Artemisia douglasiana) reveals many facets of herbalism from the medical to the metaphysical. False Solomon Seal Plant Journey: From the Magician to the Dragon. May 14th 7-9 PM
King Solomon was revered as one of the wisest men of his time and he was also a powerful magician. The Seal of Solomon was the King’s magical signet ring with which he commanded spirits and communicated with animals. The flowers of False Solomon Seal (Maianthemum stellatum) resemble the design on this mythic ring. There is a move afoot among herbalists to rename this plant Dragon Root, because what creature likes to be known as “false” anything. This beautiful woodland plant grows prolifically in the Bay Area and its medicine is still being discovered. Join our group of journeyers and build our understanding this mythic and magical plant.
